Review – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rotham, is not just one of the best superhero movies to grace the big screen, but it stands as one of the best comic book movies I think I’ve ever seen. Its vibrant style, its infectious sense of humour, its dazzling animation and its total willingness to be a comic book in motion – plus so much more – makes every second of time with this film an absolute joy. Review – Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming, directed by Jon Watts, is pretty much… well… it’s a Spider-Man film. For me it didn’t really do anything new or particularly interesting with the webbed slinger, but what it does do with him is still enjoyable to watch. I was certainly entertained by the film and I think that Tom Holland is a brilliant choice. But still, I couldn’t ever get past the fact that I’d seen all of this before and while it was slightly enhanced by the Marvel way of doing things, it was still something that left me feeling lukewarm on the whole thing. Review – Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange, directed by Scott Derrickson, took its time to find its momentum, but once it did, it began to offer one of the most stimulating Marvel films in some time. Visuals that truly wow and worlds with infinite possibilities, takes the previously built out Marvel universe and turns it on its head. Now this isn’t a film that 100% knocked it out of the park – there are in fact quite a few glaring issues with the film – and so ‘Doctor Strange’ is a film that I’m interested and eager to breakdown.
