Review – Creed II

Creed II, directed by Steven Caple Jr., once again handles its character and the legacy of the franchise beautifully. It drew me in, in ways I never expected, and it affected me emotionally in ways I knew it would but still found to be extremely effective. Now, the film doesn’t always pace itself well, and it does fall to the mat in some places, but this is a worthy sequel to a film that I adored, and I’m very excited to talk about. Review – Black Panther

Black Panther, co-written and directed by Ryan Coogler, achieves something pretty special (especially when you consider that it’s another Marvel movie); Coogler has created a really personal feeling film; one with an identity and message that sees it standing separate from the usual MCU confines. It wasn’t a film I was immediately enamoured with and it is still plagued with some of the irritating issues that plague all Marvel films (issues that I do think hold it back from being something truly game-changing for the genre), but for the first time in a while, I’m actually looking forward to writing and talking about a new Marvel release. Creed

Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler, is a film that is perfectly balanced on every aspect of consideration. This is a film that is tasked with honouring the original Rocky films, while also beginning a new franchise of films. Amazingly with the inclusion of multiple new aspects to the franchise, Creed is a film that sets up a whole new generation to the beloved boxing films, and also delivers something that by itself it truly special. If you were to have never seen the previous films from the timeline, Creed would be a film that could almost stand on its own as an undeniably brilliant piece of cinema. Read more
